For decades, the women and children of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have endured unimaginable suffering, systematic sexual violence, mass displacement, and brutal killings all fueled by a conflict over the country's vast natural resources. This crisis has been ignored for too long. On this International Women's Day, we demand urgent action from global leaders, humanitarian organizations, and corporations profiting from Congo's minerals. We call on: 1. The United Nations, African Union, and World Leaders - Recognize and officially condemn the ongoing atrocities as crimes against humanity. - Urgently intervene to protect Congolese women and children from mass rape, forced displacement, and killings. - Pressure the Congolese government to take stronger action against armed groups terrorizing civilians. - Increase humanitarian aid to provide shelter, medical care, and psychological support for survivors. 2. Corporations Profiting from Congo's Resources - Tech, automotive, and jewelry companies sourcing cobalt, gold, and other minerals from the DRC must take full responsibility for their supply chains. - Conduct independent audits to ensure they are not funding warlords and militias committing human rights abuses. - Publicly disclose their suppliers and cut ties with those linked to child labor, sexual slavery, and violence. - Allocate a portion of their profits to directly support victims of conflict and rebuild war-torn communities. 3. The Media and International Human Rights Organizations - Increase coverage of the crisis in Congo, giving voice to survivors and exposing those responsible. - Ensure justice for victims by pushing for international criminal investigations into mass rapes and killings. We refuse to stay silent while millions of women and children suffer in the shadows. Every signature on this petition is a call for action. Sign, share, and stand with the people of Congo.
